Demand for Halal Products in the U.S. Reached 12 Billion a Year
High demand from migrant workers, also increase domestic demand in the United States domestic demand is expected to reach 12 billion dollars every year.
"Ethnic problem is one important factor and usually halal products is the business of migrant workers," said conselor agriculture of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Dennis Voboril in the Global Halal Forum in Jakarta on Friday.
Global Halal Forum is a series of activities of the Indonesian International Halal Business and Food (IHBF) Expo 2010, held the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) for three days until Sunday, July 25, 2010 at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC).
Activities are held for the first time that followed 162 community and supported by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and ANTARA News Agency.
Dennis Voboril tell the history of the presence in the superpower of halal products is when the meat is cut by a local butcher and priest in the local environment oversee the process and provide halal certificate.
Because global demand appears the United States and the Islamic Center started to be involved. But the halal certification system in the country do not do the federal government.
"USDA is always watching the meat and poultry product safety," said Dennis Voboril.
The companies in the United States in cooperation with Islamic Center to provide halal certification. But the halal logo certification from each agency could be different.
A number of agencies that provide halal certification among American Halal Foundation, Halal Food Council and the Food And Notrition Islamic Council of America.
